{"id":203073,"date":"2024-04-07T10:07:59","date_gmt":"2024-04-07T15:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/toleranceweek.org\/?p=203073"},"modified":"2024-04-08T11:05:23","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T16:05:23","slug":"students-to-see-kristallnacht-production-meet-inge-auerbacher-and-hear-elyn-shindler-moldow-on-wednesday-april-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toleranceweek.org\/students-to-see-kristallnacht-production-meet-inge-auerbacher-and-hear-elyn-shindler-moldow-on-wednesday-april-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Students to See Kristallnacht Production, Meet Inge Auerbacher and Hear Elyn Shindler Moldow on Wednesday, April 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday morning, April 10th, at 9:30, 1,800 8th graders from 3 states, 8 communities, and 9 schools will be bussed to the Orpheum Theatre, to attend a special presentation.\u00a0 This event is free and open to the public.\u00a0 They will meet and learn about Inge Auerbacher, Terezin Camp Survivor, who is able to return to Sioux City for the first time since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The students will also see a production about Kristallnacht, by four students from Akron-Westfield Community School, who are competing in the National History Day State finals at the end of the month for a chance to compete at the National level in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The students are Saelah Boie, Gianna Greenleaf, Lux Larson, and Cass Moffatt and their faculty advisor is Valarie Phillips, a winner of the Tolerance Week Courage to Teach award.\u00a0 The main speaker is Elyn Shinder Moldow, daughter of Sioux City Holocaust Survivor Sam Shindler.\u00a0 Elyn Shindler Moldow grew up here in Sioux City and now lives in Denver, Colorado.
